Collection: Capsicum Annuum

This fast growing Capsicum Annuum species of peppers contains most common bell, jalapeno, and chili-type peppers. This species has a shorter growing season compared to capsicum chinense, with some varieties reaching maturity in as little as 45 days. In most North America growing zones, seeds must be started indoors 8 weeks before transplanting after risk of frost has passed, when soil temperatures are ~70F. There is, as with most peppers, a risk of flower abortive drop when ambient temperatures exceed 96F. Multiple harvests are possible late season. Pod ripening time on plants varies wildly within this species, with some being picked immature (Santa Fe Grande), while others are picked when full ripe (Tekne Dolmasi).
